Use Gemini’s Daily Brief to choose a practical first action for your day. You will check an item’s source, discuss it with Gemini, and learn how to mark it complete or correct an unhelpful suggestion.

Before you start
- A personal Google Account, age 18 or over, in the United States, with Daily Brief available. The rollout is gradual and the feature is currently English-only.
- Eligibility for Personal Intelligence, Google Workspace connected to Gemini, and Memory turned on. Work, school and supervised accounts are not supported.
- Access to gemini.google.com for this walkthrough. Google also lists the mobile app and Gemini Live as supported surfaces.
- A few minutes to compare a brief item with the original email, calendar entry or conversation. Keep your existing calendar and commitments as your reference.

Skills you’ll need: Check personalization settings, trace one brief item to its source, and turn it into a verified next action.

How this helps your brand
Checking a brief item against its source can help you choose a useful next action for the day. Keeping inferred suggestions separate from actual deadlines helps your business follow through on the right commitments.
Step 1: Check your personalization settings
At gemini.google.com, open Settings & help, then Personal Intelligence. Check Memory. Open Connected Apps there to check the Google Workspace connection, which covers sources such as Gmail and Calendar.
Personal Intelligence also requires Keep Activity. Connecting Workspace requires the Smart features in other Google products setting. Read these settings and decide whether you want the required access before continuing.
If a required setting is unavailable for your account, stop here. A prompt asking for a morning summary does not enable the Daily Brief feature.

GmailCalendarAlso required Keep ActivityFor Workspace Smart features in other Google productsIf a setting is unavailable, stop here. A summary prompt does not enable Daily Brief.
Check Memory and the Workspace connection under Personal Intelligence. Keep Activity and Smart features are also prerequisites; access can vary by account. Step 2: Open Daily brief in the sidebar
Choose Daily brief in Gemini’s sidebar. If it is missing, recheck the account and requirements above. Google says the rollout is gradual, so an eligible account may still lack access.
Once it opens, scan Top of mind for immediate items and Looking ahead for longer-term suggestions. Treat these as a starting point for your own plan. Open your calendar separately to compare what you already know must happen today.
Step 3: Check where one item came from
Pick an item with a concrete detail you can verify, such as a meeting, a client question or a project follow-up. Open More below the item to see its source.
Compare it with the original: who asked, what they requested, the date and whether the request is still current. A suggestion based on an old conversation may sound reasonable even after you have finished the work.
Tip: Keep the source open while you review the suggestion. Do not let an inferred next step silently become a commitment you never agreed to.

Use More, then Chat for the item. Paste the prompt below and replace the brackets. Ask for something small enough to begin, such as identifying the one question you need to answer before replying to a client.
Separate what the source says from what Gemini recommends. If the item lacks a deadline, your next step might be to ask for one rather than treating Gemini’s suggested timing as a real due date.

! Suggestions are not new commitmentsThe email states what was requested and by when. Gemini’s next step is a recommendation; verify it and choose one small action yourself. Step 5: Update the brief after doing the work
After you have handled an item, choose More, then Mark complete. You can use Mark incomplete if you marked it by mistake. Dismiss items you do not want to keep in the brief.
Marking a brief item complete records your progress in the brief; still check the real-world outcome. For example, confirm you actually sent the reply in your email app rather than assuming a status change sent it for you.

If an item is wrong or irrelevant, use More and Not helpful. In its chat, explain the specific mistake, such as “This meeting was cancelled” or “I finished this task yesterday.” Use Helpful when the item was useful.
If you prefer to stop receiving the feature, open Settings & help, then Personal Intelligence, and turn off Daily brief. Keep your own task list until you have seen whether the brief consistently surfaces the things you need.

You're done when
- Daily brief opens for your account and you have compared one item with its original source.
- You have chosen one next action and distinguished the source’s facts from Gemini’s suggestions.
- You have updated or given feedback on an item and know where to turn the feature off.

Help me review this Daily Brief item before acting on it. My goal today is [goal], and I have [available time]. Separate facts from the source from your suggested next steps. Identify any deadline that is explicitly stated; do not invent one. If the source is unavailable or ambiguous, say what needs checking. Suggest one small action I can take next, and ask me about missing information. Keep any reply or plan as a draft for me to review.
Open More, then Chat on the Daily Brief item you want to discuss, and paste there. This prompt helps review an existing item; it does not switch Daily Brief on.
