Install Google’s Gemini app on a Windows PC, open it with a keyboard shortcut, and use it to draft a small piece of website copy beside your existing work.

Before you start
- A PC running Windows 10 or later, with at least 8 GB RAM and 200 MB free installation space.
- A stable internet connection and permission to install software on the PC.
- A personal Google Account, or a work or school account with Gemini access enabled by its administrator.
- A few non-sensitive notes to turn into a draft. The example below needs only text you paste yourself.

Skills you’ll need: Install the app, use its desktop shortcut, and review a draft against the text you supplied.

How this helps your brand
Drafting beside your editor can make small website-copy updates easier to prepare. Comparing the result with supplied facts helps keep the business message accurate before you place it on the page.
Step 1: Download from Google’s desktop page
On the Windows PC, visit gemini.google/desktop and choose Download for Windows. Google’s installer is named GeminiSetup.exe. Save it somewhere you can find, such as your Downloads folder.
Check the website address before downloading. Search results can include unrelated desktop wrappers with similar names; this walkthrough follows Google’s own app.

Check the page address and installer name before opening the file. Search-result lookalikes are a reason to verify the source, not to switch to another wrapper. Step 2: Install and sign in
Open GeminiSetup.exe and follow the installer’s screens. When installation finishes, open Gemini from the Windows Start menu and sign in with the account you intend to use.
If your organization blocks installation or Gemini sign-in, ask its administrator about access. Do not treat a managed-device restriction as an error you can repair by downloading a different installer.
Step 3: Try the shortcut beside your work
Open the document or editor where you normally write. Press Alt + Space to summon Gemini. You can also launch it from its taskbar or system-tray icon.
If the shortcut opens a different control or does nothing, launch Gemini directly first. Google documents customizable shortcuts in the app settings; check the assignment there and test again. Keep the direct launch as your fallback.

Step 4: Give Gemini the text it needs
Copy a few notes into Gemini and use the prompt below. For a first trial, try “We repair bicycles in Kingston; open Tuesday to Saturday; bookings by phone.” Supply your real details when you need usable business copy.
Launching an assistant over your work is not a reason to assume it has read the open document. This trial gives Gemini all the required context in the message, so you can check exactly what it used.
Step 5: Review the draft before using it
Check names, services, opening hours and the requested action against your notes. Read the words aloud and remove anything that sounds like a promise you did not make.
If Gemini adds a free consultation, a phone number or a location you never supplied, ask it to remove that detail and list what it still needs. Copy the corrected draft into your editor and review it there before publishing.

Remove the promise or confirm it first.
A plausible sentence can still add an unsupported promise. Remove it or confirm it yourself before copying the draft into your editor. Step 6: Check the desktop workflow once more
Return to your editor, summon Gemini again and ask for one revision, such as a shorter heading. Confirm you can move between the two apps without losing the draft.
If Gemini stops responding, check your connection and try opening the app directly. If it displays an update notification, Google’s documented action is Restart to update. Keep a copy of your text before restarting.
Google lists some native capabilities on its desktop page specifically for macOS. Use the Windows help page when checking what your PC app can do rather than assuming every Mac demonstration applies.
You're done when
- Google’s Gemini app opens on your Windows PC and signs in to the intended account.
- Alt + Space, your chosen shortcut or the app icon reliably opens Gemini beside your work.
- You have checked a draft against your supplied facts and copied the corrected version into your editor.

COPY AND PASTE
Help me draft a short introduction for my business website. Business and service: [name and what you do] Audience: [who you serve] Facts to include: [paste your notes] Main action: [what the reader should do next] Tone: [how it should sound] Use only these facts. Give me one heading and a paragraph of no more than 80 words. Put questions about missing details after the draft. Do not invent prices, contact details, guarantees or opening hours.
Open the Gemini Windows app, paste into its chat box and replace the brackets. The draft stays a suggestion until you copy and approve it in your own editor.
